Clayton, NC – Brothers of Saint Annah Lodge #350 recently joined a brotherhood of Masons from across North Carolina for the Carolina Pig Jig, a weekend-long barbecue competition and fundraiser held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. The event, filled with mouthwatering food, friendly rivalry, and Masonic fellowship, raised crucial funds for two worthy charities: The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and Central Children’s Home of North Carolina.
“It was an amazing experience,” said Brother Damond Nollan, a first-time attendee of the Pig Jig. “The food was incredible, and the sense of camaraderie was truly special. It was inspiring to see so many Masonic brothers come together to support these important causes.”
A Feast for the Senses
The Pig Jig featured teams from 27 lodges across the state, each vying for top honors in categories like Best Sauce, Best Dessert, Best Turkey, and Best Pork. Attendees enjoyed a feast of barbecue, mac-n-cheese, hush puppies, and other delectable dishes.
District 19 Takes Home Awards
Several lodges from District 19 earned recognition for their culinary skills:
Rhamkatte Lodge #827: First place in the People’s Choice Award and third place for Best Pork.
Excelsior Lodge #21: First place for Best Pork.
Widow’s Son Lodge #4: Second place for Best Turkey and second runners-up for the People’s Choice Award.
Supporting Children in Need
Beyond the delicious food and friendly competition, the Carolina Pig Jig serves a vital purpose: raising funds to support The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and Central Children’s Home of North Carolina. These organizations provide safe havens and vital resources for children and young adults in need.
“We are proud to support the Pig Jig every year,” said [Name and Title of Lodge Representative]. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship with our brothers and contribute to organizations that make a real difference in the lives of children.”
